A Year Under a Patio Canopy

We built this really great terrace. It was so intense with the sun out here that we had to have some type of coverage. We needed something wind-resistant that we could keep up all year round. Since the town only allows a certain amount of square footage for roof size, we couldn't put up a wood or metal roof. However, there were no law preventing us from putting up an awning. So we decided to go with an awning. We did our research and found Humphrys Awnings. Chris and his team came out and did a wonderful job from the very start, from the measurements to the welding and putting this beautiful awning together.
Year-Round Lifestyle
We have had it up now for a year. We have snow poles for this, and we've had up to six inches of snow on this awning over the winter. It didn't harm it at all. It's a solid piece, that's for sure. We live out here and are not in the house pretty much at all from May through October. It's our new lifestyle, from cooking out here to having company and dining out here. It's been wonderful. They had it up in, I'm going to say, two days. They brought in four or five guys in two or three different trucks and moved these pieces. There are actually four welded sections that they put up and bolted into the house.
Awning Installation Experience
I'm going to say they worked two eight-hour days and were in and out. After that, we were able to live out here, so it was pretty cool. They were really helpful with giving us samples of different types of fabrics, different makers, and explaining the price differences between them and the warranties. We found one that worked so well with the house colors and hasn't faded. It's been wonderful.
